As stated above the journey of the college began in the year 1961. It is important to mention that it began with Pre-University Courses (Intermediate). Later on under-graduate courses were introduced in 1965. Till the previous academic session i.e. 2015-2016 the intermediate courses were running in the main campus of the college at Sakchi alongwith other UG and PG Courses. In the light of a UGC decision and as per the directive of the state government the College Management decided to shift the intermediate courses to the newly developed campus at Mango from the academic session 2016-2017.

The College Management and Karim’s Trust Jamshedpur is dedicated to provide best academic facilities to its intermediate students and to ensure their all round growth. The Intermediate Section of the college (now known as Karim City College, Intermediate Section) will comprise of following departments:
